JERALD E SWANSON (JERRY)

Jerry was born on November 13, 1950. He was the youngest of 11 children. Jerry was an avid cook and loved being in a kitchen. He got that passion starting with dish washing at Swanson’s Truck Stop Hwy 7, eventually working up to cooking. Later, Jerry helped run a truck stop in Grand Junction, Colo. His passion shifted to driving over-the-road 18 wheelers for over 30 years. Jerald “Jerry” E. Swanson, 73, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, in Arizona. Jerry is survived by siblings: Nancy Koelln, Margaret (Myron) Janke, Thom (Cloe) Swanson, Jeanette (James Brown) Johnson, Vicki Buschmann, Philip (Susan) Swanson, and V. LeRoy (Teresa Finn) Swanson; many cousins, nieces, nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Phronsie; father, Victor; siblings: Ardythe (James) Ryan, Vincent James (Ann) Swanson, Allen Swanson; brothers-inlaw, Gerald Koelln and William Buschmann. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 216 N. Davis Ave. Litchfield, MN 55355.

June I. West, 90, of Hutchinson passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her home in Hutchinson. Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton with interment in the church cemetery. Clergy Officiating: Reverend R. Allan Reed; Organist: Karen Buckentin; Soloist: Ashley Lindeman “Amazing Grace, “How Great Thou Art”; Congregational Hymn: “Just As I Am”; Casket Bearers: Grandsons, Ryan West, Riley West, Adam Black, and Sam Lindeman, Nephews, Daryl Rath, Michael Brekke, and Greg Holtz June Irene Norma West was born on December 5, 1933, at home in Acoma Township. She was the daughter of Otto and Clara (Hollman) Holtz. June was baptized as an infant on December 21, 1933, at home by Rev. Walter Voigt of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 30, 1947, by Pastor W.G. Voigt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township. She received her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate with Hutchinson High School class of 1952. On April 27, 1952, June was united in marriage to Larry West at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township. This marriage was blessed with three children, Debrah, Randall and Jennifer. June and Larry resided in Brownton for 52 years. In 2004, they moved to Park Rapids for eight years to be closer to their daughter, Deb, and then moved back to Hutchinson. They shared 61 years of marriage until Larry passed away on February 14, 2014. June and Larry owned and operated Larry’s Fairway for 25 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. June was very artistic and loved to decorate cakes and create colorful quilts. She also enjoyed traveling in the RV with Larry and bowling. June loved all animals but especially loved cats. She cherished any time spent with her family, grandchildren, and friends. Blessed be her memory. Marlyn A. Krueger, 95, of Hutchinson passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. She was the daughter of Martin and Blanche (Klawitter) Wilhelm. Marlyn was baptized as an infant on June 9, 1929, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on June 11, 1944, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. The Wilhelm’s rented housing, so they moved often, but always stayed in the Brownton area. She received her education in Brownton and was a graduate of Brownton High School class of 1947. After graduation, Marlyn was employed at 3M where she was selected as the 3M Queen. As one of three Hutchinson representatives, she was chosen to represent Hutchinson in the 1950 St. Paul Winter Carnival. On March 31, 1950, Marlyn was united in marriage to Arthur Krueger at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three children, Tony, Karla and Paul. Marlyn and Arthur made their home in Hutchinson. They shared 51 years of marriage until Arthur passed away on November 7, 2001. Shortly after starting a family, Marlyn became a full-time wife and mother. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, serving on the Dorcas Group, helping with salad luncheons, serving treats at Bible school, serving funeral luncheons, and going to Bethesda Thrift Shop once a month. Clark at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of Hutchinson High School class of 1955. On September 14, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to LuAnne Prieve at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson by Reverend Martin F. Kirsch. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Steven and David. LuAnne passed away on March 9, 1973. They shared 14 years of marriage. On February 1, 1975, Bill was united in marriage to Janice Falk Dobberstein by Reverend Donald Buelow at Lutheran Church of the Redemption in Bloomington. They shared 44 years of marriage until Janice passed away on September 15, 2019. Bill worked for Culligan water conditioning, C.H. Christians dry milk plant, Marlin Rickeman Cabinet Shop, Donald M. Peterson Construction and Goebel Fixture Company, retiring in April, 1997 after 32 years. He became an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson in 1977, being an usher, serving on boards, committees and volunteering. Bill enjoyed volunteer coach

In high school, Benny participated in cross country, swimming, track, boxing, and weight lifting. Benny resided in Ellsworth Township, rural Darwin. He was employed in production at 3M. Benny was in the process of starting his own pressure washing company. Benny was a thoughtful, giving, and kind young man. He was bright and full of positivity. Benny was always willing to help others. He always had a smile on his face, and with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes. Benny took joy in making others laugh. Benny attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin. Benny liked playing video games, going to the gym, and going for drives. Family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. Blessed be his memory. Guy also received certification at Metals Engineering Institute in 1987. Guy grew up in Buffalo and had moved to Hutchinson in 1986, where he resided. He was married to Diane Gardner in 1986. They were married for 13 years and blessed with two beautiful children, Grant and Shanna. Guy was employed as a CNC machinist for 3M. He retired in 2019. Guy was a lifetime member of the NRA, Gopher Campfire, and Gopher Wheeler’s Club. Guy enjoyed shooting his guns, eating food with his loved ones, and spending time at his homestead. Guy enjoyed four-wheeling in “Big Red” and on his Husqvarna dirt bike. He enjoyed taking his boat out and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Guy enjoyed watching television shows such as Star Trek, Big Bang Theory, The Price is Right, and cooking shows on Sunday morning as well as church. Blessed be his memory.
